Capital Airport Group, the developers behind Denman Prospect, presented Homes for Homes with a donation of more than $126,000 this week.

Denman Prospect, Canberra is the first suburb in Australia to commit to the Homes for Homes initiative. This means 0.1 per cent of the sale price of all properties in Denman Prospect will be donated to projects that address the shortage of social and affordable housing in the ACT.

So far, 275 blocks of land have been sold, resulting in the first major donation. With the suburb to include more than 4,000 dwellings, Capital Airport Group estimates that $1.5 million will go towards Homes for Homes from Denman Prospect over the next seven years.

Homes for Homes is also embedded in the title for every property in the suburb, giving future generations of property owners the opportunity to help those less fortunate.

Steven Persson, The Big Issue CEO, accepted the cheque in Canberra. He said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of Capital Airport Group – not only will their upfront donation support the development of social and affordable housing in the ACT, but an entire community can be part of Australia’s long-term housing solution.”
